Yes, and the company in charge is called CTA (Chicago Transit Authority). The Chicago Transit Authority is the second largest public transportation system in the United States.
It is composed of 8 train lines and more than 140 bus routes, which allow for convenient connectivity throughout the city and its surroundings.

WHAT IS VENTRA?
It’s the card used to use the Chicago public transportation system. It works for the CTA (train and bus systems) and Pace (bus system that operates in some suburbs near Chicago)
WHERE TO BUY THE VENTRA?
To buy it in person:
Walgreens (in some stores, they sell them in the photo area, in others, the service is available at the checkout)

To buy it online:
Keep in mind that if you take this option, you must wait a few days until it reaches the address you register at the time of purchase. If you need it the same day, it is better to go to the nearest Walgreens.
When you buy your Ventra, remember to register it on their website. This way, in case it is lost or stolen, you will be able to keep your balance and request a new card and/or buy a new one, to transfer your balance.
To get on the trains, you must have a Ventra card. For the buses, you can pay in cash, but the machine that receives the money does not give back, so I suggest you always carry coins and/or low-denomination bills with you.

Buying Metra tickets:

2.- On the train. If the ticket offices are open and you buy your ticket on the train you will get a reload ($2 or more)
